At the Y, our staff, coaches and volunteers all share a vision of helping all youth reach their full potential in life. We aim to create a healthy outlet for children to build character, gain new skills, develop a sense of team and connect with positive role models through youth sports. We also make sure kids can just be kids — playing, learning and growing.

Summer Youth Sports Clinics

Soccer | June 18-22

This week-long clinic focuses on teaching the fundamentals of soccer in a fun and not overly-competitive environment. Children will learn the proper form for fine motor skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting from experienced coaches.

This is a clinic for children of any level of ability, to help learn and fine-tune their technique and overall skills.

All Sports | June 25-29

This week-long clinic is intended to give children an introduction to a number of different sports at a beginner level, specifically: soccer, flag football, basketball, floor hockey, and dodgeball. Children will go through basic drills and then scrimmage in order to experience the game.

Tumbling | July 9-13

This is an introductory clinic for children interested in the fundamental basics of gymnastics, tumbling, and cheer. Our trained coaches help instruct children on how to properly complete basic tumbling maneuvers to help build their confidence for future gymnastic engagement.

Basketball | July 23-27

The basketball clinic is focused on teaching the basic fundamentals of basketball to children of various ages in order to build their competence and overall skills in the sport. It is based off and adapted from our weekly spring basketball clinics.

Flag Football | July 30- August 3

The flag football clinic is a means to introduce children to the sport of football in a safe and fun setting.  This clinic will teach them the basics of the sport, as well as prepare them for upcoming flag football seasons.

Cedar Valley Taekwondo

Tae kwon do is an excellent way for youth to develop balance, coordination, self-discipline and respect. Martial Arts also helps adults and children improve self-control, self-confidence, flexibility, weight control and physical fitness. Since tae kwon do is a year-round activity, it is a great aerobic exercise. A large benefit of being in tae kwon do is that it is one of the few activities that all family members can participate in.


Anyone interested in joining our Taekwondo program must either be a Full YMCA Member (monthly fee) or a Program Member (one-time yearly fee). Program Members are only allowed to participate in our programs, and won’t be allowed access to our full facility.

Youth Wellness Orientations

Youth ages 12-15 who want to use the fitness center area MUST complete this orientation. This one-session program provides information on cardiovascular exercise, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility. Participants will learn general safety guidelines, proper gym etiquette as well as how to use the cardio and strength training equipment. After successful completion of the program, youth will be allowed to work out in the fitness center area without adult supervision. Sign up at the Welcome Center Desk. This orientation is for members only.

Youth Personal Training (Ages 10-17)

Youth Personal Training allows youth to train in a safe environment with a YMCA personal trainer who can help them learn age-appropriate exercises, improve their general fitness and/or sport-specific skills, and help them achieve their fitness goals. All youth sessions are one-on-one and are 30 minutes in duration.
