WATER FITNESS CLASSES
The Black Hawk County YMCA has great water fitness classes to get involved in. Aquatics Exercise is one of many ways the Y helps support members to achieve their health and wellness goals. Take a look at the water classes we offer:
Aqua Zumba®: Are you looking to make a splash by adding a low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercise to your fitness routine? This class blends the Zumba® philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you won’t want to miss! Great for all levels!
H2O Express: Embrace the challenge of a new level of cardiovascular conditioning. Movement plus the resistance of water equals one calorie-burning, muscle conditioning class for participants of all levels. Maximize your results with this addition to your workout program. Workouts may include going into deep water.
Water Arthritis: Regular exercise helps keep joints moving, restores and preserves flexibility and strength, and protects joints against further damage. This water exercise class is designed for those with arthritis or similar conditions. It emphasizes good body mechanics, joint stability and mobility, and utilizes the buoyancy of the water to reduce stress on the bones and joints. Water is a safe and ideal environment for relieving pain and stiffness.
Water Fitness: This total body water workout will help promote cardiovascular conditioning, muscle tone, and flexibility. Due to water’s natural added resistance you will achieve better muscular endurance and balance as well. People of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy water workouts. Much less stress is placed on the body’s joints during aquatic exercise than during similar exercise on land. This makes water aerobics an ideal choice not only for healthy individuals, but also for those affected by medical conditions such as arthritis, neck and back problems, strokes, and obesity. Exercises will be performed in the shallow end of the large pool.
Bootcamp: This class will challenge yuor whole body! Bootcamp will offer both cardiovascular and muscular components while utilizing the shallow & deep ends of the pool. Participatns will do a varity of activities that will keep them moving throughout the whole class.
Cardio: This high intensity, low impact workout will focus on cardiovascular development through various water exercise. Participants will stay in the shallow end of the pool.
Cardio/Strength: Participants will experience the perfect combination of strength and cardio. The instructor will lead you through intervals of cardiovascular and srength exercises utilizing different equipment such as water weights and noodles.
Deep Water: Designed for individuals seeking a non-impact, deep water exercise program. It emphasized joint flexibility, range of motion and muscle toning through specific exercises. Participants must be comfortable in deep water; flotation belts provided for those who need one.
