Join the friendly and motivating staff at the YMCA in our group exercise classes. Every class is lead by a nationally certified instructor instilled with the knowledge base to help you improve your level of fitness.
Classes are focused around the enhancement and development of cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength, muscular endurance, muscular balance, and flexibility in a fun and energetic environment.
With a variety of classes and formats to choose from, getting healthier has never been easier. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. No need to sign up ahead of time!
In an effort to bring you the classes and times you want, the group exercise schedule will be updated every month. This gives us the flexibility to offer what you want, when you want it.

GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES
60-Min. Blast:This class is designed to strengthen and tone your muscles and get your heart pumping. You will sculpt and tone your muscles using different fitness equipment such as body bars, BOSUs, steps, dumbbells, and resistance bands while getting your cardio fix with plyometrics, stairs, kickboxing, and more! Great way to get your weekend workout in!
B3 (Bars, Bells, & Bands): In just 30 minutes, this highly efficient, full-body strength workout will use body bars, dumbbells, and resistance bands to maximize your strength-training experience. This workout is easily tailored for the desired intensity. All levels welcome.
Cardio Kick & Burn: Get the ultimate workout with this cardio kickboxing class. This total body workout incorporates kicks, punches, and combos utilizing a heavy bag and mitts. Combined with cardio drills, this class is perfect for beginners up to more advanced participants to burn fat, release stress, and have fun!
Cardioflex: This class is for participants looking to increase they’re cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and decrease stress levels. Come join us for a moderate to slightly intense cycling workout, followed by flexibility work, incorporating elements of Yoga and Tai Chi.
Cycling: Add a new element to your exercise program with this high-energy bike class that is designed for beginners and advanced alike because you set your own pace and tension. You will run, sprint, jump, and climb your way to a healthier you.
Fit at the Barre: This class emphasizes precision, form and focus by combining yoga, ballet conditioning and isometric movments into one class to leave you feeling invigorated. Fit at the Barre works the entire body with extra attention to the core (abs, hips, and thighs) and a splash of upper body movements.
Forever Fit: This total body conditioning class will get your heart pumping. This workout contains a variety of high/low floor-based aerobics as well as strength training to gain muscular endurance. This class is for all ages. The perfect way to cross train, get in shape, and have a ton of fun doing it!

Interval Training: This class consists of aerobic training with intervals of resistance training. This class works all major muscle groups and is designed specifically to improve strength and cardiovascular conditioning. This class will use a variety of equipment and will not leave you bored!
Kettlebells: Kettlebells are an exciting form of resistance training that blends strength, power, flexibility, endurance, and cardio into a single workout. A kettlebell is a cast iron weight that looks similar to a cannonball with a handle. If you are looking for something new to add to your workout, this is the class for you! The instructor will lead you through proper usage and safety of kettlebells.
Les Mills BODYPUMP: This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts, and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you want fast!
Les Mills CXWORX: The ideal 30 minute workout program for tightening your abs and glutes while improving functional strength for all participant levels. The workout features a mix of isolation exercises (like crunches and extensions) that target specific muscles and integrated moves that use two or more muscle groups together.
Pilates: This non-impact class will strengthen your core muscles while improving your balance, posture, and body alignment. Exercises are performed on a mat with a high focus on breathing and good posture.
SilverSneakers®: This nationwide senior fitness program is geared toward the active older adult looking for a workout that is challenging and motivational. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activities for skills of daily living. The class is open to all YMCA members. The SilverSneakers Fitness Program is offered in partnership with select health plans at no additional cost to eligible members. Any eligible participant is entitled to a basic membership at the Black Hawk County YMCA. This membership includes participation in SilverSneakers classes, other group exercise classes offered by the Y, social activities, and the use of the Y facilities. Super Circuit: This class is designed to strengthen and tone while leaving you breathless! It uses a variety of equipment, from free-weights to step platforms, as well as incorporates running, plyometrics (jumping), and medicine balls. Great way to get your cardio and strength training done in one workout!
Strength & Core Conditioning: Get a total body workout during this 45-minute class that will leave you feeling toned and strong. This class will combine upper and lower body strength training with core exercises, along with short bursts of cardio.
Tai Chi: If you’re looking for a way to reduce stress, consider Tai Chi. Originalls developed for self-defense, tai chi evolved into a graceful form of exercise that’s now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.
TRX Bootcamp: TRX is a suspension training system that allows you to use your own body weight and gravity to produce fast and effective total-body workouts. Improve your strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability with this intense workout that can challenge all levels of fitness.
Ultimate Core: Take your core training to the next level. In just 30 minutes, this unique class puts you through a series of exercises that will work your abs, back, and buns to the max. Produce a more sculpted midsection in less time. By developing a stronger foundation, you will increase your chances of staying injury-free. Whether you attend before or after your cardio, this workout is a perfect complement to your daily routine. This class can be modified for individuals of all fitness levels.
Yoga: Participants are guided through a series of yoga poses that develop strength, range of motion, joint mobility, and breathing awareness. This class will also improve your breathing techniques and help you relax.
Zumba®: A Latin-inspired dance fi tness class that uses international music as a background for cario-interval training to tone and sculpt your body. Zumba creates a party atmosphere and is a fun change of pace that is great for participants of all fi tness levels and backgrounds. Even if you don’t know how to dance, just follow the instructor’s lead. Join the party! This class welcomes parents and children of all ages (children under the age of 14 must be participating in the class with parent/guardian).
Adult Phys Ed: This class focuses on the basics of your ‘old school’ P.E. class. Practicing skills such as laps, relays, sprints, and games. Enjoy body weight exercises, cardio, functional movement, stretches, and maybe even a scrimmage or two. This is a unique and results driven class that will take you back to your P.E. days in a good way.
