A lot has changed at the Y over this past year, but our commitment has remained the same—to always be here for our community when people need us most, with open arms and caring hearts.
When the devastating effects of COVID-19 swept across the country and landed on our doorsteps, we quickly mobilized to provide our community with essential services. Thanks to the unwavering support of our members, volunteers and donors like you, our YMCA has been able to continue offering people a critical lifeline as we work to help our community recover and thrive.
You have graciously supported our Y and we are grateful for your past support. Now, as we approach the end of the year, we’re asking again for your help, so that we can continue to support our neighbors and strengthen our community.
We have a special opportunity to maximize the value of your gift. One of our long time members, John Deery, has graciously offered to match all donations received between now and December 31, 2020, up to $15,000. Mike and Becca Halverson have also offered a matching donation of up to $7,000 for first-time donors. Make your gift today to double the support and double the impact your donation can make!
In addition, through the COVID-19 CARES Act, individuals may now elect to take an above-the-line charitable deduction of up to $300 for cash gifts made to public charities in 2020. Your donation would be deducted from your total income before taxes are calculated, thus lowering your taxable income. This applies to both itemizers and non-itemizers. Take advantage of this tax incentive by making a gift to the Family YMCA of Black Hawk County.
Together, we can provide food for those who are hungry, child care for parents who need to go to work, a safe, nurturing space for kids to attend school remotely, and outreach to seniors who are feeling isolated. Because strong communities are built by people who care about one another.
The Y. Forever together. For a better us.
